The top single for the past week was “King & Queen & Joker” from Sexy Zone, which sold 150,586 copies in its first week. That’s an excellent result, and even comparing Soundscan results with their previous singles showed that this one was an improvement – the four generally available versions scored 120k compared to 105k for “Bye Bye Dubai”.
Team Shachihoko took #2 with “Iikurashi”, selling 34,830 copies.
At #3, “Hanamichi!! A~mbitious” from SUPER☆GIRLS sold 33,585.
In special coverage, Funky Kato’s “Kagayake” took #5 by selling 19,762. Interestingly, it was right behind SZ on the Soundscan chart. And right behind it was fripSide’s “black bullet”, which saw 16,714 sold.
The third week of sales for Arashi’s “GUTS!” brought it to #7 as it boosted its total by 13,897 to 559,168.
Momoiro Clover Z’s “Naite mo Iin da yo” did well in its second week, taking #14 and selling 9,076 copies to bring its total to 75,930.
In its fourth week, “Ee ja nai ka” from Johnny’s WEST saw 7,971 in sales at #16, pushing its total to 290,946.
Taking #17 in its seventh week, Nogizaka46’s “Kizuitara Kataomoi” now has a total of 531,221 copies sold.
The two singles from μ’ｓ – “Donna Toki mo Zutto” and “Sore wa Bokutachi no Kiseki” – took #19 and #25 respectively. “Donna Toki mo Zutto” is at 52,572 after two weeks and “Sore wa Bokutachi no Kiseki” has sold 85,559 after four weeks.
Fukuda Kouhei-san’s “Tougegoe” fell to #24 and has a seven-week total of 50,852. Will it make an early departure from the top 30?
At #28, “Honoo to Mori no Carnival” from SEKAI NO OWARI continues to sneak up on 100k, tacking on 2,321 and selling 97,474 copies after six weeks.
The big story, though, was on the album side, as the soundtrack for the Disney movie Frozen sold an additional 108,956 copies in its fourteenth week, easily taking the top spot and bringing its total to 574,931. It’s a monster, I tell you.
Jun. K from 2PM took #2 with “LOVE & HATE”, which sold 35,701 copies in its first week.
“Heartful Song Covers” from May J. went to #4 in its eighth week , selling 14,694 to boost its total to 150,378. It’s still adding 10% a week, and I assume it can’t keep doing that – compounding gets astronomical very quickly.
Taking #6 in its eleventh week, “Girl” from Pharrell Williams added 12,050 and now has a total of 68,677 copies sold.
“LEVEL3” from Perfume popped back up to #8 in its twenty-fourth week by selling 8,088 copies. Its fresh total is 253,901, so it just managed to grab platinum this week.
