The top single for the past week was “Kokoro Sora Moyou” from Kanjani8 with 192,573 copies sold. That’s significantly lower than their normal range and far from the platinum level I thought they should be aiming for. This single does come on the heels of an album release and there’s already an upcoming single announced for January, but I don’t know whether that’s enough explanation for this result.

Sandaime J Soul Brothers’ “SO RIGHT” secured #2 by selling 110,176 copies. There are apparently some circumstances around this number that I’m not totally clear about, but it’s not too far away from the group’s normal range (at least they didn’t suddenly sell a million copies or anything . . . .).

At #3, “3 2 1” from SHINee sold 67,507.

Juice=Juice sold 39,379 copies of “Ijiwaru Shinaide Dakishimete yo/Hajimete wo Keikenchuu” at #4.

In its second week, Nogizaka46’s “Barrette” took #5, selling 28,290 copies to bring its total to 423,417. That’s not bad at all for a -48 family group.

Actually, it’s right in line with what SKE48 had done last week. This week, SKE48’s “Sansei Kawaii” sold 12,646 at #9 to get its three-week total to 496,124.

Tohoshinki’s “Very Merry Xmas” did not have as good a second week. It fell to #14, selling 7,862 for a total of 124,517.

Perfume took #18 with “Sweet Refrain” tacking on 5,830 in sales for a two-week total of 63,532.

“Snow Dome no Yakusoku/Luv Sick” from Kis-My-Ft2 got #21 and now has a four-week total of 306,433.

At #25 in its third week, Acid Black Cherry’s “Kuroneko ~Adult Black Cat~” sold 3,781 for a total of 72,580..

Yuzu’s “Ame nochi Hareruya/Mamotte Agetai” bounced up from #29 to #26, so maybe it’ll manage to sell 50k before leaving the top 30 after all. It now has 46,862 copies sold after four weeks.

Finally, AKB48 occupied #28 with “Heart Ereki” selling an additional 3,570 in its sixth week to get its total to 1,260,792.

On the album side, KinKi Kids’ “L album” took the top spot, selling 136,511.

Choshinsei (Supernova)’s “SIX” got #2 with 45,727 copies sold.

In its third week, Porno Graffitti’s “15th Anniversary All Time Singles” took #5, selling a strong 19,888 copies. It’s total is now 141,594.

At #6 in their second week, One Direction saw 18,632 copies of “Midnight Memories” sold in Japan, which brings their total in the country to 86,534.

RIP SLYME’s “GOLDEN TIME” was at #7 with 17,669 copies sold.

Lady Gaga and Avril Lavigne both bounced back. The former’s “Artpop” took #8 and has a five-week total of 133,340 while the latter’s self-titled album took #9, having sold 119,266 after five-week.
