The number one single this past week was Southern All Stars’ “Peace & Hi-lite” (ピースとハイライト), with 207,423 copies sold. I’m sure we’ll see strong sales in the following weeks for this legendary group, and I’ll be looking for this single to break platinum before it drops too low.
At #2, Akanishi Jin-kun’s “Hey What’s Up?” did very well, surpassing gold in its first week with sales of 114,121.
Choshinsei (Supernova)’s “Winner” also passed the 100k line in its first week, selling 102,436 copies at #3.
“Greed Greed Greed” from Acid Black Cherry took #4 by selling 58,017. That’s probably a strong showing, but I don’t have historical numbers for Acid Black Cherry.
At #5, Flower’s “Taiyou to Himawari” (太陽と向日葵) saw 45,401 copies sold.
Idoling’s “Summer Lion” had 40,745 sold at #6.
In its second week, “Shiosai no Memory” from Amano Haruko (really Koizumi Kyoko – Haruko is her character in the drama Amachan) was at #9 and had a very strong result – more than 30% of first week sales. It added 28,872 for a new total of 106,629.
Yamashita Tomohisa-kun’s “Summer Nude ’13” dropped from #1 to #18, but its second week sales were not bad at all – 13,501 more copies sold to bring its total to 112,081.
Taking #21, Nogizaka46’s “Girls Rule” now boasts a six-week total of 402,023.
Mizuki Nana-san had a decent second week, with her single “Vitalization” selling 7,750 additional copies at #23 to get its total to 69,398.
The fifth week of sales for “Jiyuu e no Shingeki” from Linked Horizon brought it to #24 and a total of 189,615.
Finally falling out of the top 10, SKE48’s “Utsukushii Inazuma” dropped to #26. Its four-week total is 629,111.
And in a bit of a surprise, “Sexy Zone” from Sexy Zone took #30 after more than a year and a half of sales! It sold an additional 3,688 copies to bring its current total to 271,379. Is this bump because of the way the song was featured at the end of Shounen Club on August 7th, or is something else going on here? Amazing that it just barely made the cut for a mention.
On the album side, Maximum the Hormone’s “Yoshuu Fukushuu” took #1 for the second week in a row thanks to a vacuum of strong new releases. It sold 34,923 copies for a total of 191,980.
Ikimonogakari’s “I” held #3, tacking on 19,094 to its number, which is at 169,527 after three weeks.
The Backstreet Boys were at #6, and “In a World Like This” how has a three-week total of 69,141 copies sold.
Last but not least, Amuro Namie-san’s “FEEL” came in at #8 in its fifth week, and now boasts a grand total of 349,006.
