The big story in the charts last week was the triple platinum first week put up by Arashi’s “Calling/Breathless” – the group’s best result for a single with 756,410 copies sold. Congratulations to Arashi – still surpassing themselves after more than thirteen years in action.

In a distant second, with nevertheless okay results, was Tegomasu with “Sayonara ni Sayonara” (サヨナラにさよなら) selling 69,087.

Porno Graffitti‘s “Matataku Hoshi no Shita de” (瞬く星の下で) sold 34,718 to take #3.

At #4, “Big Boys Cry/Beautiful” from Amuro Namie-san managed to sell 23,113, which seems a bit low.

SMAP got #5, with “Mistake!/Battery” selling 21,061 in its second week for a total of 182,742.

AKB48’s “So long!” captured #8 in week three, bringing its total to 1,099,756.

The fourth week of sales for “My Resistance – Tashikanamono/Unmei Girl” from Kis-My-Ft2 took it to #16. It added 5,538 for a running total of 360,437.

“Choco no Dorei” from SKE48 got #21 in its sixth week. It’s total is now 636,814.

The last single of note was Hikawa Kiyoshi-san’s “Shigure no Minato”, which took #25 and now has a four-week total of 61,212.

The top album last week was Tohoshinki’s “TIME”, which had a spectacular 243,827 in sales – tantalizingly close to the platinum level, which they have probably already surpassed.

At the number two slot was ONE OK ROCK‘s “Jinsei Kakete Boku Wa” (人生×仆=), selling a strong 118,864 in its first week.

Acid Black Cherry‘s “Recreation 3” sold 51,625 copies at #3.

Shonan no Kaze took #4 with “Shonan no Kaze -2023-” selling 45,047 copies.

At #6 was NMB48’s “Teppen Tottan De!”, which added 18,253 copies in sales in its second week for a total of 346,689.

Right behind at #7, illion’s “UBU” added 17,869 for a total of 19,697. This seems to be its first full week of sales, but I guess it must have seen some token distribution last week.

Finally, MISIA’s “Super Best Records – 15th Celebration-” took #8 with 15,164 copies sold in its third week, bringing its total to 110,474.
