The data for 12-30 was released late, due to some confusion about whether it and the January 6th release would be combined or not, so I’m going to handle both weeks today. Personally, I’m happy that they decided to keep the weeks separate, just to provide consistency in the data.

The top single for the week ending December 30th was “Rock Your Soul” from V6, selling 55,155 copies.

At #2 was “REVERSI” from UVERworld, with 40,608 copies sold.

Kasai Tomomi-san’s “Masaka” took #3 with 32,582, which strikes me as a weak showing for the recent AKB48 Team A graduate.

NMB48 took #4, with “Kitagawa Kenji” showing resurgent sales of 30,683 in the single’s fifth week, bringing its total to 398,155.

Nogizaka46 was at #6, as “Seifuku no Mannequin” tacked on 20,549 in week 2 for a total of 253,510. That’s a slightly weak follow-up to a very strong first week.

“Eien Pressure” from AKB48 got #8 in its fourth week, now with a total of 1,165,527. The group’s other high-charting single, “UZA”, was at #12 with a nine week total of 1,228,003.

Momoiro Clover Z got into #10 with buzz around the group increasing with year-end appearances and a coming appearing on Kouhaku. “Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi tachi yo” now has 109,589 in sales after six weeks.

Right behind at #11, EXILE ATSUSHI’s “MELROSE” now boasts a four-week total of 119,743.

Kis-My-Ft2’s “Ai no Beat” was at #14 in its seventh week, breaking 300k with 301,651 copies sold in total.

“MONSTERS” from the special unit The MONSTERS was a hair’s breadth away from 200k, reaching a total of 199,064 at #15 in week five.

NEWS’ “World Quest” took #17 in its third week, bringing it to a total of 140,902 copies sold.

It looks like, with people hunting for last-minute Christmas/New Year’s gifts (or possibly an extra treat for themselves to bring extra cheer to the season), the album side was more fruitful ground.

The top album was “MIRACLE” from Sandaime J Soul Brothers, selling 137,818.

Behind it was “Funky Monkey Babys 5″ from Funky Monkey Babys, managing 82,655 in sales.

EXILE continues its strong run on the charts with its “BEST HITS” taking #3, adding 46,950 in sales to bring its four-week total to 582,130.

Ikimonogakari’s “Baradon” posted a great second week at #4, with 43,959 copies sold to bring the album’s total to 151,814.

At #5, Matsutoya Yumi-san continued to show great strength with her 40th anniversary album, with her total now topping 654,444.

Only Mr.Children could show a better total in the top 10 this week. Taking #6, [(an imitation) blood orange] added 25,810 to bring its total to 714,607.

YUI’s pair of albums – “Green Garden Pop” and “Orange Garden Pop” – took #8 and #9, now with totals of 178,662 and 176,950 respectively.
