As expected from what I saw last week, there are significant fluctuations in some dramas while others have stabilized with consistent audiences. I’m reviewing MONSTERS and Piece, but continue to have trouble picking further series to cover. On the bright side, Priceless has joined the list of shows with consistent English subtitles available, leaving Aibou 11, Resident, and Poison apparently unsupported. That’s a shame, because I really wanted to add Resident, but don’t have any confidence reviewing it without subtitles.

You can get information on all of this season’s dramas at the most recent of the bi-weekly TokyoHive articles here.

Doctor X maintains a strong hold on the top spot, but Priceless looks like it’s picking up, posting a surprising gain over its first episode. That’s good, because I was sure that Priceless would be the top show this season (just on the strength of Kimura Takuya-san’s ability to draw audiences), and was disappointed by the first episode number.

Aibou 11 seems to grow weaker and weaker with every episode. When will the hemorrhaging stop?

So does MONSTERS, which makes me a bit worried as I gear up to review the second episode later today.

Akumu-chan is doing an unexpectedly good job of retaining its audience, as is Tokyo Airport.

Why is Ooku so weak? I’ll try and come up with an answer in the coming weeks.

Perfect Blue bounces around between 7% and 9%.

The most recent number posted by Resident is striking – that’s a huge jump over its first episode rating. Again, this seems to be part of a continuing re-shuffling as many viewers still haven’t settled into shows. Seems like a good season for medical dramas, though.

Looks like Koukou Nyushi got back into the 7% range and, barring competition in the time slot, will probably stick around there.

Poison’s got its dedicated audience, but what’s happening to Piece!? Was I even more on-the-mark than I imagined in my ratings comments last week when I said that this drama is too dark for its natural audience? It’s certainly underperforming both Shiritsu Bakaleya Koukou and Sprout in this time slot, and both of those were light-hearted material.
