It looks like we’re back to sensible numbers, now that the Olympics is over – right in time for some chaos from the NTV 24-hr TV telethon this coming weekend. It’ll only affect the Saturday night and Sunday shows – Ghost Mama Sousasen, Sprout, and perhaps Summer Rescue – but at least we can look at this week’s ratings for a more-or-less accurate read across the board.

A complete account of the weekend shows, including variety shows, can be found at the usual bi-weekly TokyoHive rundown. The most recent of those is here. I’m only keeping track of my slate of dramas (the ones I’ve considered doing reviews for) for this season.

Sprout  (01) 02.4%, (02) 02.5%, (03) 2.9%, (04) 2.6%, (05) 2.1%, (06) 2.9%, (07) 3.0%

It looks like GTO has made it back into its expected range, and now has the lead for the season with room to spare.

Iryu Sosa 2 recovered fully as well, but not enough to unseat the more light-hearted GTO.

Ghost Mama Sousasen has not recovered, and I have to admit, I’ll feel a bit vindicated for dropping it from my review list if it doesn’t make it back into double-digits.

The show that did make it back over 10 is Kuro no Onna Kyoushi, and I hope that the fifth episode is, in fact better than the fourth. Of course, I think my favorite episode of the series so far was the third episode, and that got the weakest ratings. Can we use the Olympics as an excuse for that?

Summer Rescue picked itself back up by an even greater margin, though that 6.8% almost certainly means it was up against a very popular event.

Beginners!, Naniwa Shounen Tanteidan, and Boys on the Run are all firmly in the second tier territory now, with Beginners! looking satisfyingly strong. I really want Naniwa Shounen Tanteidan to do well, but the recent episodes have been increasingly weaker.

Sprout actually broke its own highs, defying gravity in late-night.
