These are the notable (i.e. potentially popular) Single and Album Releases for the next month. My apologies if your favorite artist is not included – please mention the artist and title in a comment and I’ll update the list if it’s someone I should have included. Recently, the livejournal page for Johnny’s new releases (johnnys_shop) stopped updating, so I thought people might be interested in this kind of summary.

It looks like, with the exception of Maeda Atsuko, the AKB48 etc. machine exhausted itself in May. I’m glad Maeda-san is there, though, if only to ensure EXILE is prevented from getting the number one spot that week. While we’re at it, I hope Kato Seishiro’s release beats EXILE, too, though that’s a much longer shot.

We’ve got a pretty decent selection of Johnny’s releases, though – Arashi, HSJ, Kanjani8, NEWS, KAT-TUN, and Yamapi. Are we going to get  a Johnny’s burnout in June the way we got a AKB-NMB-SKE burnout in May? I have to say, though, that with NEWS trying to reboot, it’s strange to see the two former members (Yamashita-kun and Nishikido-kun in Kanjani8) having releases so close to the Best-Of Album. Maybe June is just a prime month for this sort of thing? It sort of puts pressure on fans of the old NEWS – both the former members and the current – in terms of who they’ll support with their money.

Speaking of former NEWS members, it looks like Uchi Hiroki will be the guest on Shounen Club this month. I wonder what kind of message Johnny’s is sending with that, in the month of NEWS’ triumphant return? It sure seems to me that someone at Johnny’s Entertainment has it in for NEWS, but maybe that’s just my paranoia acting up again.
